Soulsville Foundation statement against Asian hate crimes and all forms of bigotry and intolerance

The Soulsville Foundation – which operates the Stax Museum of American Soul Music, Stax Music Academy, and The Soulsville Charter School – is deeply concerned about hate crimes against Asians and Asian Americans, as we are about all racially and culturally motivated hate crimes, both historically and more recently. We denounced white supremacy in all of its manifestations, no matter how subtle. We firmly believe that racism and racially and culturally motivated hate crimes against any groups or individuals should not be minimized, encouraged, excused, or ignored.

In keeping with the philosophy and practice of inclusion at Stax Records, we continue to offer platforms for our students,  staff, and others we engage to discuss their feelings, concerns, opinions, and ideas for affecting positive change to end bigotry and intolerance of any kind. We will continue doing our part as a collective staff of more than 100 employees to embrace, practice, and share our core values of opportunity, economic empowerment, and hope.
