Hit the Road Stax! Wayne Jackson and the 1967 Stax/Volt European Tour – Now through September 30, 2017

The Stax/Volt 1967 European Tour was one of the most pivotal events in the history not only of Stax Records, but also of taking the Memphis Sound to Europe and changing the lives of music lovers there forever. Booker T. & the MGs, Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Eddie Floyd, Arthur Conley, Wayne Jackson, Andrew Love, Joe Arnold and – for a brief time at the start of the tour – Carla Thomas, swept through England, France, Norway, and other European cities selling out show after show and exposing the continent to the raw, gritty, soul that was emanating from the tiny recording Stax studio in Memphis.

Working with the estate of Wayne Jackson, who was the consummate collector and amassed a treasure trove of memorabilia from the tour, and working with people from all walks of life who attended shows on the tour and kept mementos, the Stax Museum celebrates the 50th anniversary of this iconic concert tour with a special exhibit of clothing, photographs, news clippings, and more.
